Stellenbosch is the heart and soul of South African wine, as important to the country's winemaking prestige as Napa is to the United States or Bordeaux to France. This beautiful region comprises seven sub-regions, all centered around the leafy university town of Stellenbosch. Winemaking here is influenced by the cooling sea breezes that sweep in off False Bay, and the crumbly, mineral-rich granite soils.
